Established in the vibrant post-liberation days of 1946, University of the Visayas Toledo Campus traces its roots back to the visionary collaboration between Judge Blas F. Cavada and Don Vicente A. Gullas, founder of Visayan Institute. Their shared mission was clear: to provide accessible education to the youth of Toledo and its surrounding areas.

From its humble beginnings as Toledo Visayan Institute, our campus has evolved into a beacon of educational excellence, serving as a vital lifeline for students unable to access educational opportunities in Cebu City due to geographical challenges. With an initial enrollment of 354 students and 8 teachers, our journey began in rented facilities, but our dedication to academic advancement never wavered.

Over the decades, our campus has undergone transformative growth, mirroring the expansion of educational horizons in Toledo. From the construction of our first dedicated building in 1956 to the acquisition of our own premises in 1964, each milestone marked a step forward in our commitment to providing quality education. The addition of modern facilities, such as the Don Vicente Gullas Building in 1987, further solidified our position as a leading educational institution in the region.

Today, as University of the Visayas – Gullas College Toledo City Branch, we continue to uphold our legacy of academic excellence and community service. Our College of Education boasts a history of high passing percentages in the Teachers Board Examination, while our Computer Department remains at the forefront of technological innovation.

But our journey doesn't end here. With the establishment of new infrastructure and the burgeoning population of Toledo City and its neighboring towns, we are poised to continue shaping the educational landscape for generations to come.
