COEd History
Founded in 1919 as the Visayanian Institute (VI), the University of the Visayas (UV) established its College of Education in 1938, offering a pioneering two-year program in Elementary Teachers Certificate (ETC). In 1948, the government formally recognized the institution's commitment to education by conferring GR no. 211 s. 1948 upon the Bachelor of Elementary Education. This recognition was followed in 1949 by GR no. 399 s. 1949, acknowledging the Bachelor of Secondary Education.
Underscoring its dedication to academic excellence and transformative education, the College of Education at UV attained Level IV accredited status for both the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) programs from the Federation of Accrediting Agency in the Philippines.
