The University of the Visayas Alumni Association Inc. (UVAAI) celebrated its Grand Alumni Homecoming: Paghimamat 2024 on January 13, 2024, at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino, Grand Ballroom, Cebu City.

The event kicked off as the majestic parade unfolded, highlighting the rich history of UVAAI through the presence of the Alumni Chapter Officers, Alumni Committee, and guests.

Present were the members of the UV Board of Trustees (BOT), executive officers, deans, directors, heads of offices, principals, coordinators, faculty members, and non-teaching staff across satellite campuses, who made the celebration a testament to the enduring legacy of the University of the Visayas.

The event was also graced by the presence of Cebu City Mayor Michael Lopez Rama with his wife.

In his message, BOT Vice Chairman Mr. Joselito F. Gullas extended a warm welcome to the 105th alumni homecoming of the University of the Visayas while acknowledging the alumni for being the backbone of the educational institution.

โ€œThe accomplishments of our graduates reflect the core values of the university. It has always been said that the alumni are the backbone of any educational institution, and I am grateful to all of you for this. Welcome home, Visayanians! Have a good evening and enjoy yourselves tonight,โ€ he said.

This was followed by the singing of the Green and White March and UV hymn led by the UV Choir, which set the tone for the event.

For his part, University President Dr. Conrado E. Iรฑigo, Jr. expressed gratitude for the collective efforts that have led to the university's success, incorporating reflections on the institution's history to emphasize its achievements, along with BOT Treasurer Dr. Leopold Gullas-Lucero, who also delivered a message during the event.

Meanwhile, presentations of the outgoing Alumni Officers and projects, led by UVAAI Outgoing President, Engr. Rizalito S. Casinillo, presented their accomplishments while the newly nominated UVAAI Boards for 2024 were introduced; he also presented the official logo of the UVAAI during his message.

In addition, the awarding of outstanding alumni and the selection committee were highlighted during the event, hosted by the school principal of Pardo Campus, Ms. Maria Theresa A. Gonzaga.

The UV Choir and UV Filipiniana Dance Group performed an intermission number during the event as well.

The night continued with fellowship and entertainment hosted by the Director of Athletics and Culture Affairs, Dr. Cresencio L. Mejarito, featuring batch presentations, an open mic session, raffles, and a dancing segment, which concluded the evening.
