UV Green Lancers claims 15th trophy

THE University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers humbled the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters in game 3 of the championship match, victoriously concluding the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Season 23 Men's Basketball Tournament College Division last night, December 16, at the Cebu Coliseum with the final score of 60-41.
With the guidance of Head Coach Gary Cortes, the Green Lancers owned their crowns once again.
In an interview with the Visayanian Publication, Coach Gary Cortes said, “It feels so good that we claim a back-to-back championship game, with the perseverance and determination of the players and most importantly the guidance from above that there will be no injuries during the game.”
“Our first loss from UC during game 1 was a realization that you should protect yourself at all times," he added.
John Paul Amistoso wearing jersey number 6 and Kent Ivo Salarda wearing jersey number 12 completed the mythical five of the season.
Amistoso said "I [am] overwhelmed given that... we claimed a back-to-back championship, and our win is dedicated to the school. I didn’t expect to be one of the mythical five given that it is not my ambition, but to only contribute to the game and win the championship round."
Finals MVP of the season Kent Ivo Salarda said, “I [am] happy... our hard work [had] paid off, especially our coaching team and my fellow players."
He added that “I [am] grateful that I [am] the MVP of the season”.
The Green Lancers earned their 15th championship trophy, having hailed as the team with the most wins in the league's 23-year history.
