One Piece Theme Song Singer Visits UV

Otsuki, known for her memorable performances of the One Piece classics “Memories” and “RUN! RUN! RUN!”, engaged UV students and fans through an interview session at the Broadcast Media Laboratory, creating excitement and nostalgia on campus.
Visayanian anime fans were treated to a rare visit as Maki Otsuki, one of the iconic voices behind the anime series One Piece, stopped by the University of the Visayas (UV) on Friday, August 29. The event was organized by the UV Department of Communication Studies.
Students from the B.A. Communication (BAComm) program had the opportunity to interact with Otsuki as part of her cultural exchange tour under the “Anime Song Singer Booking Service” between the Philippines and Japan.
Christine Flores, a BAComm student and member of the interview committee, described the experience as surreal. “Despite the pressure of making sure everything on camera ran smoothly, seeing Otsuki in person was like a dream come true and it was fulfilling,” she shared.
