COED Dean Dr. Aileen Costas assured students of the college’s dedication to their success, emphasizing education as a means to create service, compassion, and positive change.
The University of the Visayas (UV)–College of Education (COED) welcomed its students during an orientation held at the Inday Teresing Auditorium to guide them through university policies, services, and academic programs.
The orientation covered key topics including hybrid learning platforms, student organizations, faculty introductions, and UV’s Vision-Mission and core values. These were presented to ensure students are well-informed and prepared for the academic year.
In her opening message, Dr. Costas reminded students that education goes beyond knowledge acquisition and must inspire meaningful service to others.
Freshmen participants appreciated the event. BSED-ENG students Junrey Sevillano and Nicole Manatad said it clarified policies and guidelines, while BPED student Regen Astoras noted that it helped her navigate the campus and identify which offices to approach for assistance.
The College of Education currently offers seven degree programs: Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education majors in English, Filipino, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, and Bachelor of Physical Education.
