UV, South Korea's BRK Foundation Establish R&D Partnership

The University of the Visayas (UV) and South Korea's BRK Foundation have formalized a partnership to establish a collaborative Research and Development (R&D) Center, strengthening international cooperation in research, innovation, and academic exchange.

The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 24, attended by university officials, representatives of the BRK Foundation, researchers, industry leaders, and academic partners from the Philippines and South Korea. The agreement aims to promote collaborative research, technology transfer, faculty and student engagement, and knowledge exchange between the two institutions.

University President Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr. led the UV delegation during the signing ceremony, while BRK Foundation President Mr. Bruce Kim headed the South Korean delegation. In his welcome remarks, Dr. Iñigo emphasized the University's commitment to expanding international partnerships that enhance research capabilities, foster innovation, and create greater opportunities for students and faculty. Mr. Kim likewise underscored the foundation's vision of developing sustainable collaborations that advance research excellence and technology development.

The ceremonial signing of the MOU by Dr. Iñigo and Mr. Kim highlighted the institutions' shared commitment to collaborative research and academic cooperation. Dr. Yvonne M. Sevilla, Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences, delivered the University's message of commitment, while Mr. Kim reaffirmed the BRK Foundation's support for future joint initiatives. The partnership is expected to strengthen research, innovation, and global academic collaboration between the Philippines and South Korea.
