UV-Gullas Law School Earns International Recognition at ICC Moot Court Competition

The University of the Visayas–Gullas Law School (UV-GLS) achieved a historic milestone after securing the Best Prosecution Memorial (First Runner-Up) award at the prestigious International Bar Association–International Criminal Court (IBA–ICC) Moot Court Competition. The global rounds of the competition were held at Leiden University in The Hague, Netherlands.
The award-winning Prosecution Memorial outperformed more than one hundred submissions from 48 countries, distinguishing itself in what organizers described as the largest and most competitive edition of the tournament to date. The accomplishment highlights UV-GLS’s growing reputation in international legal education and demonstrates the institution’s excellence in legal research, advocacy, and academic writing.
Representing the university were student advocates Kyle Marie Inzo, Christine Anne Origenes, Neil Tagarao, Cherry Ann Velasco, and John Niel Tigoy. The team’s success was made possible through the dedicated coaching and mentorship of Atty. Eunice S. Baliong, whose guidance helped prepare the delegates for the highly competitive global event.
The International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition is recognized as one of the world’s premier academic competitions in the fields of International Criminal Law and International Humanitarian Law. UV-GLS’s strong performance showcased the students’ analytical abilities, legal writing skills, and understanding of complex international legal issues.
This international accolade reflects the rigorous academic training and commitment to excellence fostered by UV-Gullas Law School. By earning recognition on the global stage, the team has further elevated the university’s standing within the international legal academic community and demonstrated the caliber of Visayanian legal education.
