University Of The Visayas, University Of Hawai'i Sign Three-Year Academic Partnership

The University of the Visayas (UV) and the University of Hawai'i have strengthened their commitment to international academic collaboration through the signing of a three-year Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) focused on education, research, and professional development initiatives.

The agreement was formally signed by UV President Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr. and Dr. Francisco Dumanig, Chair of the Languages Department and Associate Professor of English and TESOL at the University of Hawai'i. The partnership marks a significant step in advancing both institutions' internationalization efforts and expanding opportunities for academic engagement.

Under the agreement, UV and the University of Hawai'i will collaborate on a range of academic initiatives, including the hosting of the Hawaii International Conference on English Language and Literature Studies (HICELLS) 2027 in Cebu City. The partnership also aims to strengthen research collaboration, increase scholarly publication outputs, and encourage greater participation of faculty members and students in academic conferences, research projects, and other scholarly activities.

In addition, both universities committed to promoting professional growth through seminars, workshops, training programs, and knowledge-sharing initiatives designed to enhance the competencies of students, educators, and researchers. These activities are expected to foster innovation, academic excellence, and cross-cultural learning experiences.

The memorandum will remain in effect for three years from the date of signing, reflecting the shared vision of both institutions to advance research excellence, global academic engagement, and international cooperation in higher education.
