UV-Gullas Law School Presents Level II Law Student Practitioners

The University of the Visayas–Gullas Law School (UV-GLS) marked a milestone as 55 law students formally took their oath as Level II Certified Law Student Practitioners, signaling their transition from classroom learning to real-world legal service.

The oath-taking ceremony, held recently, recognized the students’ advancement under the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP), allowing them to engage in supervised legal aid work. The initiative equips aspiring lawyers with hands-on experience while extending legal services to the community.

CLEP Director Atty. Wennonah Marie Garces underscored the significance of the moment, reminding students that the oath carries a deeper responsibility beyond ceremony.

“Your oath is more than a formality. It is a solemn pledge to uphold the rule of law,”
she said.

Administering the oath, Regional Trial Court of Cebu City Executive Judge Hon. Anacleto Debalucos commended the students’ progress while urging perseverance.

“This calls for a celebration in reaching this far. But take note. As the saying goes, you have won the battle, but not yet the war,”
he said, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their pursuit of legal excellence.

The event also featured the induction of newly elected officers of the Gullas Institute of Legal Aid Services (GILAS), the student organization supporting the law school’s legal aid initiatives.

Also in attendance were GLS Dean Atty. Randi Joseph Torregosa, Associate Dean Atty. Dalring Chyrmyth Wagas-Estorgio, and GLS alumnus Atty. Merit Adrian del la Victoria, who joined in celebrating the students’ achievement.
