UV-GLS Stages Second Don Vicente Gullas Mock Trial Competition

The University of the Visayas (UV) Gullas Law School (GLS) staged the second Don Vicente Gullas Mock Trial Competition on October 23, 2026, at the Inday Teresing Auditorium, Inday Pining Building. Held as one of the highlights of the opening of GLS Week, the competition gave law students practical experience in case presentation, witness examination, and courtroom argumentation.

Two teams faced off in a simulated trial: PALDO Law Firm for the defense and BAROG Law Firm for the prosecution. Both teams argued their cases, examined witnesses, and answered opposing counsel, while observing courtroom decorum, legal procedure, and evidence-based argument built on testimony.

Presiding Judge Atty. Renato M. Galeon led the panel of judges that evaluated the teams. PALDO Law Firm was named champion of the Don Vicente Gullas Mock Trial Competition 2026 during the awarding ceremony.

In his closing remarks, International Law Students Alliance (ILSA), Inc. Adviser for Academics and Internal Affairs Atty. Vertillano Relevo V. stressed the competition’s role in preparing future legal professionals.

“A mock trial should therefore teach more than confidence in speaking; it should teach us to hear an inconvenient answer, acknowledge a weakness, and change our position when the evidence requires it,”
he said.

ILSA, Inc. President Kyle Marie P. Inzo delivered the words of gratitude. Present at the event were GLS Dean Atty. Joseph Randi C. Torregosa, Associate GLS Dean Atty. Darling Chyrmyth Wagas-Estorgio, coordinators, ILSA advisers, and students from the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice.

Padayon, Visayanians!
