Consul General of China in Cebu Visits UV to Strengthen Ties

The University of the Visayas (UV) welcomed the Consul General of China in Cebu, Zhang Zhen, on June 27, 2025, in a courtesy visit that explored avenues for deeper collaboration and cultural exchange.

Joining Consul General Zhang were Consular Attachés Wang Shengqiang and Liu Mingyang. They were warmly received by UV’s International Affairs Department Director Mr. Rogie Nichole Aquino, along with university officials including Dr. Rosemarie Cruz-Español, Vice President for Finance and Quality Management Systems; Mr. Jose Miguel Gullas, Assistant Vice President for Administration and Finance; Mr. Vince Ralzyn Lucero, Assistant Vice President for Student Services; and Dr. Anna Kathrina Oaminal-Watin, Director for Student Affairs and Services.

The visit commenced with a meeting at the Executive Board Room, where both parties exchanged insights on strengthening institutional partnerships and potential academic collaborations.

A main program followed at the Doña Andrea Multimedia Center, attended by UV deans, faculty, students, and staff. During the event, Consul General Zhang delivered a speech highlighting China’s contributions to global progress and its rich cultural heritage. A ceremonial turnover of Chinese academic resources from the Consulate capped the program.

UV remains committed to forging strong international partnerships as it works toward becoming a globally recognized institution.
