UV Inducts Level 1 Certified Law Student Practitioners

The University of the Visayas–Gullas Law School (GLS), through the Gullas Institute of Legal Aid Services (GILAS), inducted its Level 1 Certified Law Student Practitioners (LSPs) on September 17, 2026, at Summit C Function Hall, Summit Galleria Cebu.
Associate Dean Atty. Darling Chyrmyth Wagas-Estorgio led the induction of GILAS officers and the presentation of the Level 1 LSPs. Adjunct Faculty Atty. Louie C. Borja delivered an inspirational message on humility in the legal profession and the responsibility of future lawyers to use their knowledge in service of others.
Atty. John C. Menguito, managing trustee of the Philippine Earth Justice Center, Inc. and a Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) partner, discussed the Clean Legal Clinic Network and its role in advancing access to justice while protecting communities and the environment. The program also featured the keynote address and oath-taking administered by Hon. Anacleto G. Debalucos, who emphasized perseverance, persistence, patience, a positive mental attitude and prayers as guiding values for law students.
Hon. Debalucos further reminded the practitioners that the legal profession extends beyond financial gain, urging them to serve “the lost, the least, and the last.” Level 1 Law Student Practitioner Sheila A. Carpina delivered the response to the keynote address, followed by the awarding of certificates and tokens to partners and guest speakers and a photo opportunity with faculty members, officers and guests.
