UV secures Japan-based cultural internship for eight Visayanian students through MOA with Ryokan Tamagoyu

The University of the Visayas (UV) signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Ryokan Tamagoyu on July 3, 2025, enabling eight selected students to undergo a three-month cultural internship in Fukushima, Japan. The program aims to equip students with practical experience in hospitality and deepen their appreciation for Japanese culture.

The University of the Visayas (UV) has officially partnered with Ryokan Tamagoyu, a traditional inn in Fukushima, Japan, through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on July 3, 2025. The agreement opens internship opportunities for eight UV students, offering them a unique chance to immerse in Japanese hospitality and culture.

Under the program, the selected students—mostly from the Hospitality and Tourism Management program—will spend three months in Japan undergoing cultural internships. The hands-on experience will cover various aspects of ryokan operations, including front desk management, guest services, and customer relations. The internship is designed to boost the students' global exposure, workplace readiness, and appreciation for Japanese cultural practices.

This collaboration reflects UV’s commitment to providing its students with international learning opportunities that enhance both academic and professional development.
