UV Green Lancers honored at 38th SAC-SMB Cebu Sports Awards

Just a week after they were recognized at the 3rd University of the Visayas Quality Awards, the UV Green Lancers received another accolade.
This is time on a bigger stage.
The Lancers were honored for their outstanding achievements in the field of basketball during the 38th Sportwriters Association of Cebu-San Miguel Beer (SAC-SMB) Cebu Sports Awards on Sunday, May 26, at The Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.
UV's hardcourt warriors were given a special citation at the the "Oscar's of Cebu sports" for successfully defending their crown in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Season 23 last year.
It was their second straight CESAFI title and fifth overall in seven straight finals appearances under the guidance of head coach Gary Cortes since 2015.
That galvanized the Green Lancers' status as the winnigest team in the 24-year history of CESAFI with 15 championship trophies under their belt.
UV's star players Jiesel Tarossa and Kent Ivo Salarda were also feted for being the Most Valuable Player in the past two seasons of Cebu's premiere inter-school atletic league.
