Call for UV Historical Photos from Alumni (1919–1990)

As part of the ongoing heritage preservation and celebration of the University of the Visayas’ enduring legacy, we warmly invite all UV Alumni to contribute to the institution’s growing digital archive by donating historical photographs that capture the university’s evolution from 1919 to 1990.
These images will become part of a curated collection that honors the vibrant life, milestones, and people of UV across decades, and will also serve as lasting visual testaments to the university’s transformative journey through time.
This initiative forms an important part of the University’s 106th celebration, serving as a tribute to UV’s rich and vibrant history—preserving the memories that shaped generations of Visayanians!
PHOTO DONATION MECHANICS
Who May Join:
UV alumni from any college or department are welcome to participate.
What to Submit:
Clear, labeled photos taken between 1919 and 1990, featuring any of the following:
- University events or celebrations
- Buildings and old campus facilities
- Classroom or student life
- Faculty, deans, or heads of offices
- Student organizations or community activities
- UV facade or landmarks during the stated years
Submission Platforms:
Participants may upload photos through any of the following:
- Comment section of the official UV post about this campaign
- Messenger of the official University of the Visayas Facebook page
- Email: Send high-quality scans to [email protected] with your full name, batch/year, brief description of the photo, and location taken.
Deadline for Submission:
All entries must be submitted on or before May 20, 2025
Selection and Recognition:
The Top 106 historical photos will be selected by a university screening committee based on scholarly merit, uniqueness, and contribution to UV’s institutional memory.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION (Total: 100%)
- Historical Significance (30%)
Relevance of the photo in documenting the university’s past events, people, and heritage. - Originality and Rarity (25%)
Uniqueness and scarcity of the image within the existing university archive. - Visual Clarity and Quality (20%)
Sharpness, condition, and overall quality of the photo (scanned or original). - Completeness of Label/Caption (15%)
Accuracy of information provided, including the people, location, and date if known. - Cultural/Institutional Value (10%)
Reflection of UV’s values, mission, and educational journey.
AWARD AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
The owners of the selected Top 106 photos will receive Gift Certificates as tokens of appreciation from the University of the Visayas. Additionally, contributors will be acknowledged in future UV publications, exhibits, or commemorative programs.
